George Strait Takes Final Chicago Bow

10 Mar

George Strait took his final bow in Chicago at the Allstate Arena on Saturday night.  I took my Dad with me to this spectacular bittersweet show.

Vince Gill opened the show with all of his hits and he took the stage again with George to sing “LoveBug” and “Amarillo By Morning.”

George came to thank Chicago country fans for years of support and Chicago country fans came out in full force to thank him for years of wonderful memories and music that has touched our hearts and our lives. We’re just happy he’ll still be making music.

The sold-out crowd was still there for the final notes. as you’ll see when the lights come up in this video. Watch George’s final bow here.

There were cameras capturing George’s every move…so I’m hoping for a Live Concert DVD!

I Will Miss Seeing Him In A Bears Uniform

6 Mar

I will miss watching him in a Bears uniform. Bears thank Devin Hester for 8 great seasons while informing him he won’t be re-signed. Hester acknowledged his departure from the Bears on his Facebook page, writing: “To all my Chicago people, …I can’t thank you enough for my time in Chicago. I’ve always said I wanted to retire a Chicago Bear but sometimes things don’t work out the way we would like. Chicago will always hold a special place in my heart and if I am fortunate enough to break the return record, we will have all broken it together no matter where I am. Thank you again and God bless.”

A Young Man Who Deserves All Of Our Applause

4 Mar

While everyone is talking Hollywood and Oscars, here’s a young man who deserves all of our applause.  What a story. God Bless all children who have to and have had to grow up without their parents because they lost them to war.  The picture of him spending time with his father by hugging his gravestone is too much for me. His spirit and heart says so much.    Check out the story here
